Christian Best Camps of Kenya (CBCK) was founded in 2010 by Pastor Erick Agoro Simba, who was born and raised in Kibera and understands the challenges of life in the slums. After participating in a U.S. exchange camp program (SB2W), he was inspired to establish CBCK to respond to the needs of children, young men, and women in Kibera through mentorship and empowerment.
CBCK addresses the breakdown of family support in Kibera and other slums, where many children and youth lack parental care due to illness, incarceration, death, or economic hardship. The organization runs Christian sports and day camps three times a year during school holidays, serving 400–700 campers per session. Campers are grouped by age using biblical themes to provide effective mentorship, discipleship, and life-skills development.
Programs and Impact
CBCK offers mentorship and discipleship, sports, Bible study, career guidance, and worship through its camps. To date, over 20,000 campers have been reached, with 600+ beneficiaries supported through primary, secondary, and tertiary education. Former campers are encouraged to serve as volunteers or staff. The Mugumoini Community Center, established in 2018, serves as the main hub for CBCK programs.
