Christian Best Camps of Kenya (CBCK) was founded in 2010 by Pastor Erick Agoro Simba, a native of Kibera who understands firsthand the challenges faced by children and families in informal settlements. His life was transformed after participating in a U.S.-based exchange camp program (SB2W), which inspired him to establish CBCK as a response to the spiritual, emotional, and social needs of young people in Kibera.
Pastor Simba’s vision is grounded in both faith and education. He holds a degree in Sociology and Psychology from the University of Nairobi, as well as a Master’s degree in Contextualized Pastoral Ministry from Lancaster Bible College, Capital Seminary and Graduate School. His academic background, combined with his personal experiences, has shaped CBCK into a ministry that is both compassionate and impactful.
CBCK is supported by a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, many of whom come from Kibera and other underserved communities who share a deep conviction to address the breakdown of family structures. In these communities, many children and youth grow up without adequate parental care due to illness, incarceration, death, or economic hardship. CBCK seeks to restore hope where it is often lost.
Through its children and family-centered programs, CBCK works toward healing, restoration, and long-term transformation. The organization also runs Christian sports and day camps three times each year during school holidays, reaching between 400 and 700 campers per session. These camps are thoughtfully designed, grouping participants by age and using Biblical themes to provide mentorship, discipleship, and practical life skills.
At its core, CBCK is driven by a simple but powerful truth: We care about people because God cares for His people.
